MSN has apologised for referring to Nadine Coyle as “the other one” in an article on its music website about the band Girls Aloud.
The reference was made in an article about “songs we love which never made number one”.
Third on the list was Girls Aloud with their song ‘Love Machine’. The article stated: “Despite being Britain’s best-loved girl band Cheryl, Nicola, Sarah, Kimberley and the other one have cruelly been denied their fair share of number one singles.”
One local fan said: “On reading the caption I thought it was an appalling display of discrimination against Nadine who is from Northern Ireland, the only girl in the band not from Britain.”
A spokesperson from MSN said: “The article is independent editorial, which is intended to be a light-hearted, retrospective take on songs that duly deserved the number one spot but lost out. MSN Music is a huge fan of Girls Aloud and their music, and the omission of Nadine Coyle’s name was not meant to cause any offence. We are sorry for any distress this may have caused.’” http://www.derryjournal.com/journal/MSN-apology-over-Nadine-blunder.6268306.jp
Nadine Coyle blasts critics who claim she is too skinny, attributing her slim figure to running
Nadine Coyle has blasted critics who claim she is too skinny, claiming her recent weight-loss is the result of a healthy running regime.
The Girl Aloud faced a wave of criticism claiming that she was too thin, but has fought back, saying: ‘People should stop bullying me about my weight. One minute they say I’m too plump, the next they say I’m too thin. I can never win.’
'Everyone is always speculating about my weight, saying I don't eat. Why don't they just leave me alone?' she added.
Speaking to Closer Magazine, the singer did admit to losing 10lb over the last two months, but attributes running to her changing figure.
'I am totally happy with my weight. I'm not unhealthy at all!' she said. 'I'm just doing a lot of running with my trainer back home in LA.'
Coyle lives in the States with her American football player boyfriend, Jason Bell. She has been working on her first solo album, while on a hiatus from Girls Aloud.
NADINE COYLE’S had to put up with a lot of stick this week with rumours that she doesn’t get on with CHERYL COLE and the rest of Girls Aloud.
So the Irish singer gave me a bell from her home in Los Angeles to set the record straight on their so-called feud.
First up she tackled whispers over her relationship with Cheryl. Close friends of the love-split star insist Nadine - working on her debut solo album - DIDN’T contact Cheryl when she fled to LA after hubby ASHLEY’S cheating emerged.
But Nadine told me: “I sent Cheryl an email and I CALLED her. I was like: ‘Hi.’ And she said: ‘I’m in LA’. I was working on the album and dashing around. She was working and doing her thing.
"She wasn’t here for very long so we didn’t get the chance to meet up with each other."
Nad’s also been in London recently and tried to hook up with the girls. But this week SARAH HARDING said: “I didn’t know she was even in the country.”
Nad, however, assured me she HAD been in touch with all four bandmates - including NICOLA ROBERTS and KIMBERLEY WALSH.
Nadine Coyle reportedly claiming Cheryl Cole is ‘milking split’ from Ashley
While we’ve long observed that Nadine Coyle may not be as close to her fellow Girls Aloud members as they are with each other, we were still alarmed to hear reports that suggest she believes Cheryl Cole to be using her personal problems to benefit her career.
It’s currently being claimed that the long-limbed star has been unimpressed with how Cheryl has been “manipulating” the media following her separation from footballer husband Ashley Cole.
A source is quoted by Digital Spy as saying:
“Nadine tries to keep very private and believes that her success will come through her talent and not any kind of media circus which might surround someone’s private life.
“She thinks Cheryl is milking the whole situation surrounding her at the moment. Unlike Cheryl, who has a number of projects going on in the year, like The X Factor and various sponsorship deals, Nadine feels her career going forward will be focused solely on music.”
The source added:
”She hasn’t got the same contacts as Cheryl, nor the huge media profile, but she thinks that her music will say it all and she’ll have more credibility. Nadine always believed that she has the strongest voice and has no doubt that her music will do well. The next few months are crucial to her, so she’s keeping everything else, including Cheryl’s woes, at arm’s length.”
Nadine, who has been residing in LA since 2007 and is set to release her debut solo album soon and her first single later this month, has since rubbished rumours of a rift between her and Chezza.
The 24-year-old singer Tweeted:
“I’m hearing stupid talk about Cheryl and I having a fall out. Def NOT the case. I’ve written a song I’d love for us to duet on. Stay tuned.”
Another magazine article is claiming again that Nadine Coyle is “holding back” Girls Aloud.
Although the Irish beauty hit back at a similar story last month (she wrote on Twitter at the time “Laughing at people suggesting i’m holding up GA. Really?? Let’s be realistic. Open your eyes. It’s made out like I have all the power”) - a new reports claims otherwise.
A source told Heat: “The other four are in regular contact and see each other when they’re not working. Nadine holds them back. She’s so far removed from the band it’s like she’s left already.
"Nadine’s jealous." The insider suggested. "Once upon a time, Nadine was the ‘lead singer’, the one the tabloids wrote about. Now everyone’s forgotten about her."
Coyle has been working on songs in Los Angeles for her forthcoming debut solo album.
